Why Helen?
I've been the one sitting in that seat, listening to the presenter at the front of the room. More times than I could count, I felt I saw some nice images, but never came away with anything tangible that helped me develop as a photographer. My aim as a presenter is not only to renew passion for photography and inspire people to "get out and shoot", but also to share tips and information that will help them improve. I try to teach in such a way that I cover all learning styles. My presentations include text, images, videos, sound clips and stories, all designed to keep the audience engaged.
It's never too early to start planning for your meeting. I have booked presentations more than a year in advance. Please get in touch to inquire about rates and availability.

Speaker Bio: Helen Grose is professional photographer, certified drone operator, and gallery owner who lives in the heart of Muskoka. She photographs real estate, sports, pets and people, but Helen’s real passion lies in nature and wildlife. She turned her hobby into a full-time career in 2011 when she started travelling throughout Canada, the United States and Europe to photograph professional sports events. After a few years of travel, her heart led her to Muskoka, and she began leading interactive small group workshops in Algonquin Park. She also became an instructor at Georgian College in Barrie, where she taught nature & landscape photography. Today, Helen continues to teach private lessons and lead workshops and adventures in "the park" and Muskoka. But she also operates a 1,200 square foot art gallery and teaching space on her property, which is an 80-acre farm just outside of Bracebridge. She loves a good adventure, practices ethical wildlife photography, and is a proud dog mum to three rescue pups.
Becoming a Wildlife Detective: Finding Wildlife to Photograph
The number one question most wildlife photographers field is: “Where did you find that?”. In today’s digital age, sharing location information has led to concerns over ethical wildlife photography. Helen has developed this presentation to show you that you don’t need to be a master naturalist or rely on someone else to help you locate wildlife. By piecing together a number of relatively easy-to-find clues, and providing ideas of what to research in advance, Helen’s goal is to help you find wildlife to photograph safely and ethically.
This is Helen's most popular presentation. It's highly informative, looking at wildlife and location research, animal behaviour, and tips for finding and photographing wildlife in the field. Helen shares media as illustrative examples, and stories of some of her favourite wildlife encounters. She also touches on safety and ethics in the field. This presentation can be modified to fit within 60 to 120 minutes, including time for questions at the end.
