Novice - I'm brand new to photography!

Beginner - I have some understanding of the fundamentals but primarily use my camera's automatic or program mode.

Intermediate - I mostly understand the fundamentals and am somewhat comfortable changing my camera settings. I primarily use aperture or shutter priority mode.

Advanced - I understand the fundamentals and am very comfortable changing camera settings to achieve my desired results. I may use manual or aperture or shutter priority.

Professional - I have a solid understanding of both the technical and artistic components of photography and am completely confident changing settings to achieve my desired results.
